FULL DESCRIPTION : To serve as the operational backbone of a high-volume Emergency Department. This is a hands-on, high-accountability role for someone who thrives in complexity, knows how to get things done without a lot of handholding, and understands the unique demands of an ED environment. This is not a purely strategic role. The right person is equally comfortable in the weeds of day-to-day administration and capable of stepping back to see the bigger picture. You will work closely with the ED Director and act as the operational liaison between clinical staff, hospital administration, medical affairs, finance, and external partners.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Manage the day-to-day administrative functions of the Emergency Department under the direction of the ED Director
  • Monitor and facilitate patient flow to reduce bottlenecks and improve throughput
  • Oversee scheduling, staffing coordination, and related payroll processes for a team of 30+ physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Drive adoption and optimization of the department's EMR and operational systems
  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead practical, sustainable improvements
  • Manage contracting for ED physicians and APPs, including drafting and routing provider agreements
  • Maintain certificates of insurance and ensure all documentation is current and accurate
  • Coordinate with the hospital's badging and credentialing teams to ensure seamless onboarding and compliance
  • Serve as the primary administrative liaison for providers, handling day-to-day requests and escalations
  • Ensure clinical documentation practices support accurate and timely billing
  • Partner with the billing department to address documentation gaps, coding queries, and charge capture issues
  • Monitor key revenue cycle metrics and flag issues proactively
  • Act as the ED Director's administrative right hand, executing on directives and managing follow-through across teams
  • Communicate and coordinate with hospital staff across departments including finance, HR, compliance, and medical affairs
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with clinical staff, contributing to a department culture of operational clarity and mutual accountability

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • 10+ years of hospital or health system administrative experience, with direct ED or acute care exposure strongly preferred
  • Someone who can both direct and do, not just manage people but roll up your sleeves and execute
  • Comfortable working in a turnaround environment with limited infrastructure, where you'll often have to build the process while running it
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities without losing accuracy or follow-through
  • Strong communicator who can translate between clinical, administrative, and finance stakeholders
  • Experience with provider contracting, credentialing processes, and/or physician relations is a significant plus
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle concepts, even if you're not a biller yourself
  • Someone who creates order, not just documents it

Salary Range: $95k to $100k/year
