Ultrasound Technologist - Weekend Only - Methodist

To perform routine and specialized examinations in Ultrasound; adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
Performs ultrasound procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages

• Exhibits competency in performing ultrasound procedures
• Images required views demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology
• Knowledgeable of catheters, biopsy instruments and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary
• Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients/families
• Enhances image quality through the use of appropriate transducers and machine settings
• Evaluates the finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are being submitted to the radiologists
• Maintains quality care throughout the procedure
• Assess the abdominal arterial & venous system using color imaging

Clinical Excellence
Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all areas of ultrasound.

• All ultrasound equipment within the Medical Imaging Ultrasound department
• Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software
• Performs reasonable trouble shooting
• Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels & documents on board for all staff notification
• Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room
• Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels
• Invasive Procedures
• Able to document area of concern
• Set up trays with sterile field for radiologist
• Assists radiologist with biopsy
• Orders labs and pathology tests under the direction of a radiologist

Relationship Building
Performs support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met and assumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students.

• Promptly processes images and paperwork to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician's office
• Fills out all appropriate paperwork to facilitate timely and accurate reporting
• Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care
• Promptly and accurately enters patient information into HIS system to ensure efficient patient throughput
• Maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs
• Shares knowledge and guides fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures
• Displays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating productive learning environment

Qualifications:

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Sonography (S) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics and Gynecology (RDMS-OB/GYN) within 1 year - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen (RDMS-AB) within 1 year - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Education: Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology; College Diploma: Sonography, Work Experience:

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is $33.9per hour - $58.31per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
