Mortgage Loan Originator
As our Mortgage Loan Originator, you will:
- Interview applicants in-person and by phone to assess eligibility, creditworthiness, and product fit.
- Educate borrowers on loan options, terms, rates, fees, and process steps.
- Collect, analyze, and verify borrower financial and property documentation.
- Generate initial disclosures, gather supporting documents, and submit files for processing and underwriting.
- Act as primary contact for borrowers, realtors, attorneys, and title companies.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and compliant loan files per regulatory, secondary market, and internal guidelines.
- Manage rate locks, closing timelines, and coordinating with underwriting, processing, and closing staff.
- Review referrals and CRM leads, structure applications, and issue pre-approvals.
- Manage and maintain the loan origination system (LOS).
- Build and sustain relationships with members, referral partners, and real estate professionals to generate mortgage opportunities.
- Stay current on mortgage products, regulations, and industry trends.
- Assist with home equity loans and real estate servicing needs, including phone calls and in person inquiries.
- Provide training and support for real estate staff.
- Local travel may be required to attend closings, branch visits, or community events.
- Represent the credit union positively in community and business development activities.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3+ years' recent experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer in a financial institution or mortgage company
- Strong knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting processes, and compliance (e.g., RESPA, TILA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of exercising tact and sound judgment and executes responsibilities in an ethical manner
- Able to work without close supervision
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus

M-F 9:00am-5:30pm (occasionally 6pm coverage as needed)
Saturday (rotating) 9:00am-1:00pm
