Le Sud Mediterranean Kitchen, a neighborhood French-Mediterranean restaurant in Chicago’s Roscoe Village, is seeking an experienced, organized, and hospitality-driven Assistant Manager – Private Events & Catering Coordinator to join our management team.

This is a hands-on position combining restaurant management, private event sales and coordination, and catering operations . We are looking for someone who enjoys working directly with guests, is highly organized, communicates professionally, and can take ownership of an event from the initial inquiry through successful execution.

Key Responsibilities Private Events & Catering

• Respond promptly and professionally to private dining and catering inquiries
• Follow up with prospective clients and actively work to convert inquiries into confirmed bookings
• Conduct restaurant tours and communicate room options, menus, minimums, and event details
• Prepare proposals, contracts, menus, and event details
• Coordinate guest counts, menu selections, beverage packages, room layouts, timelines, and special requests
• Maintain accurate event information and communication throughout the planning process
• Work closely with the culinary and service teams to ensure smooth event execution
• Coordinate catering orders, including pickup, delivery, setup, timing, and client communication
• Follow up with clients after events and help develop repeat corporate, social, and catering business

Restaurant Management

• Assist with daily front-of-house restaurant operations
• Support opening and closing procedures
• Supervise and support servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff
• Maintain Le Sud's standards for hospitality, professionalism, cleanliness, and guest experience
• Assist with reservations, guest relations, staff communication, and problem resolution
• Serve as a manager on duty when scheduled
• Work closely with ownership, management, and the culinary team

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

• Restaurant management or supervisory experience
• Private dining, banquet, catering, or event coordination experience strongly preferred
• Strong sales and follow-up skills — someone who is comfortable turning inquiries into bookings
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Exceptional organization and attention to detail
• Warm, polished, professional hospitality
• Ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously
• Confidence communicating with corporate clients, social-event hosts, vendors, and restaurant guests
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by restaurant and event schedules
• Experience with Tripleseat, Toast, and Resy is a plus

The Person Who Will Succeed in This Role

You are someone who takes ownership. When an event inquiry arrives, you don't simply answer questions — you build a relationship, follow up, help the client make decisions, and work toward securing the event.

You also understand that booking the event is only the beginning. You enjoy making sure every detail is communicated correctly so that the client, kitchen, service team, and management are all prepared for a successful event.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the energy of restaurant operations but also wants to develop experience in private event sales, catering, and hospitality management .
