Job Title: Authorizations Coordinator
Pay: $22-24/hr based on experience, contract to hire
Benefit Information: This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Work Schedule:
- Full‑time, Monday–Friday
- Hours: 8:00am–4:30pm
- Hybrid: Remote on Monday & Friday; onsite Tuesday–Thursday
- Onsite parking available
- Reliable transportation preferred
Job Description:
The Authorization Coordinator ensures insurance approvals and eligibility requirements are met for services to be billed correctly. This role supports both clinical and administrative teams by verifying payer rules, reviewing coverage updates, and helping resolve authorization‑related claim issues. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and experienced with Medicaid or managed care plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main contact for insurance carriers and managed care organizations regarding authorization and coverage questions.
- Confirm client eligibility, benefit details, and coverage updates across multiple payer types.
- Submit, track, and update service authorization requests to prevent interruptions in care.
- Review internal and payer reports to identify delays, trends, or issues requiring attention.
- Notify internal staff when coverage lapses and coordinate next steps for updated approvals.
- Process payer changes and maintain accurate records within the electronic medical system.
- Evaluate and confirm authorization needs for client program changes.
- Assist with resolving authorization‑related claim errors and escalate trends as needed.
- Support income‑based application processing and renewal tracking.
- Perform general administrative and revenue cycle tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Medicaid or managed care insurance plans strongly preferred.
- Background in medical authorizations, eligibility verification, billing, or healthcare revenue cycle functions.
- Familiarity with ICD‑10 terminology is a plus.
- Prior use of EMR/EHR systems; experience with CareLogic is helpful but not required.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other standard office applications.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
