Right of Way Project Manager – Environmental Services
Location: Chicago, IL (60606) / Downers Grove, IL (60515)
Employment Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Compensation: Competitive salary ($115K–$210K) + excellent benefits, bonus potential, and long-term growth
We are seeking an experienced Right of Way Project Manager to support utility and public infrastructure projects across the Great Lakes region. This role will lead land acquisition efforts, title research, negotiations, and project execution while managing client relationships and overall project performance.
This is a high-impact, client-facing role where you will serve as the Right of Way lead across multiple large-scale infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate is both a strong project leader and a “seller-doer” who can contribute to business development while delivering complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead land acquisition efforts including negotiations, title research, and property due diligence
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables
- Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders
- Review and interpret title reports, appraisals, and land surveys
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client communication and relationship management
- Provide oversight and direction to land acquisition subcontractors and field teams
- Support contract development, negotiations, and proposal preparation
- Participate in public meetings and stakeholder engagement activities
- Identify and support new business opportunities and client expansion efforts
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and project requirements
- Travel to project sites and client meetings as needed (~25%)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years managing Right of Way projects
- Experience with ROW acquisition, including projects involving eminent domain
- Strong understanding of title research, land surveys, and appraisal review
- Knowledge of real estate law and land rights processes
- Real Estate License (or ability to obtain)
- Experience supporting utility infrastructure projects (electric, gas, or renewables preferred)
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- IRWA membership preferred
Work Environment:
- Hybrid role with required office presence in Chicago or Downers Grove
- Approximately 25% travel
