Commercial Roofing & Sheet Metal Sales Estimator | Remote (McHenry, IL Hybrid)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Sales Estimator with a strong background in commercial roofing, waterproofing, and sheet metal projects. This role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates, pursuing new business opportunities, and managing bids for large-scale commercial projects. While primarily remote, the candidate must be willing to visit our McHenry, IL office at least once per month and possibly more often.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to develop competitive roofing and sheet metal estimates .
• Conduct on-site inspections to assess project scope, materials, labor, and timelines.
• Prepare cost calculations using estimating software for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, property managers, and building owners .
• Respond to RFQs/RFPs, present proposals professionally, and negotiate contracts with clients.
• Collaborate with project management teams to ensure smooth transitions from estimate to execution.
• Monitor industry trends, competitor pricing, and market conditions to refine the estimating strategy.

Qualifications:

• 5–10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating and sales , preferably in roofing or architectural metal.
• Proven experience bidding on large-scale, multi-million-dollar commercial projects .
• Strong knowledge of TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up roofing, and metal panel systems .
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents .
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills .
• Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
