Job Summary
Th e Gas & Chemical Technician is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of liquid bulk and specialty gas/chemical delivery systems. This role supports critical facility operations by ensuring equipment reliability, performing routine inspections, and maintaining compliance with strict safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively in a high-responsibility environment.
Job Description
- Operate and maintain liquid bulk and specialty gas/chemical delivery equipment
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment
- Conduct daily operational rounds, including: Recording system readings, Completing safety inspections, Monitoring gas and chemical systems, Verifying toxic gas monitoring systems, Performing cylinder, tote, and drum change-outs
- Execute bulk gas and chemical trailer transfers following proper procedures
- Monitor and follow correct delivery procedures for all on-site products
- Identify and evaluate operational issues, escalating when necessary
- Participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team
- Complete required on-the-job training and qualification programs within designated timelines
- Support contractor training and ongoing operational programs such as safety, maintenance, and compliance
- Perform minor analytical and sampling procedures
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) standards, including PPE, forklift operation, lockout/tagout, and confined space entry
- Follow established procedures to complete assigned tasks accurately and safely
- Maintain accountability for personal safety and the safety of others on-site
- Manage proper transfer and storage of hazardous materials
- Follow procedures for spill response, material handling, and waste preparation
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and segregation of materials
- Support waste minimization initiatives and maintain compliance with applicable regulations
- Shift: Two weeks on M-F @ 1st (8hr) days then transition to A-Shift (12hr) compressed shift
Skills Required
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow
- Mechanical or electro-mechanical aptitude
- Ability to follow strict safety and quality standards
- Capable of handling high-pressure or emergency situations with sound judgment
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day
- Ability to operate equipment such as hydraulic foot pumps (handling drums up to 500 lbs)
- Frequent bending and physical activity throughout the shift
- Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators
- Must comply with site safety requirements, including face coverings when applicable
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor, chemical, or specialty gas industries
- Military technical, electronic, or nuclear experience
- Background in similar high-safety, process-driven environments
Education
- H igh S chool Diplom a or GED required
Pay Rate
- $18 - $20 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
