Palatine Park District is thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Superintendent of Finance. As a key member of our team, the right candidate will oversee the Finance Department, contributing to the success of our community-focused initiatives.
As a separate governmental entity, the Park District serves a population of over 83,000 who live within the District's 21 square-mile service area. As the Superintendent of Finance, the primary responsibility will be to provide administrative oversight of all operations and activities of the Finance Department. Key areas of focus include:
- Budget control and accounting system management
- Audit coordination
- Property tax levy administration
- Debt management
- Investment of District funds
- Purchasing oversight
- Payroll management
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field (CPA, MS, or MBA highly desirable)
- Ten years of prior experience involving governmental finances, accounting, budgeting, financial forecasting, purchasing, and investments
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws and local ordinances related to finance, accounting, and purchasing
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to recommend alternative actions with minimal direction
- Personnel management skills to effectively plan, motivate, train, and supervise staff
- Experience with financial software and systems
- Certification as a Parks and Recreation Professional is a plus
