Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Morganton, North Carolina 28655 (Western NC healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Family Center – Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby Unit
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN contract)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts/week (36 hours/week)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840
• Unit Details: 16 LDRP rooms, C-section suite, PACU on L&D unit, 4-bed Special Care Nursery
• Support Staff: Preadmit nurse, discharge planner/case worker, maternity navigator, unit educator, lactation consultant
• Orientation: 16 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license or compact state nursing license
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby nursing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers, newborns, and postpartum patients in a Family Center setting
• Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries; provide immediate newborn and postpartum care
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure patient safety and best practices
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects
• Educate and support patients and families throughout the childbirth experience
• Accurately document patient care using the facility’s electronic charting system
• Maintain a safe, patient-centered, and supportive environment
