Travel Surgical Tech Job Details – Springfield, IL

• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1850-$1890
• Assignment Type: Travel Surgical Technologist
• Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet Hospital
• Location: Springfield, Illinois 62781
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 5x8-hour day shifts (06:45 – 15:15)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Requirement: One weekend per month (16 hours)
• On-Call: As needed
• Floating: Required within scope of practice
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Parking: Free with permit

Surgical Tech Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital setting
• Previous travel surgical tech experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross)
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred
• Must reside more than 50 miles from Springfield, IL
• Arrive in Illinois 3 business days prior to compliance deadline for fingerprinting
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Ability to float within scope of practice
• Strong skills in general OR, trauma, and teaching hospital environments
• Required case experience: ENT, endoscopic, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, oral, orthopedic, plastic, trauma, urology, and emergency management
• Proficiency with surgical equipment: drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords

Surgical Tech Responsibilities

• Assist in a broad range of surgical procedures: trauma, general, orthopedic, neurosurgery, ENT, gynecology, plastics, and urology
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments
• Support surgeons and the surgical team during operations
• Float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Participate in emergency management and adhere to all safety protocols
• Ensure accurate specimen handling and labeling
• Follow aseptic technique, isolation precautions, and universal protocols
• Utilize advanced surgical technology, including Xi Robot, Mazor Robot, and Rosa Robot
• Document procedures and patient information accurately in Cerner EMR
