Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time or part-time Sign Language Interpreter is needed for an elementary school environment, supporting students throughout the full school year. This position is ideal for those passionate about facilitating communication and learning for young students who rely on sign language.

Responsibilities:

• Provide clear, accurate interpretation services for elementary students using sign language
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure effective communication and support student learning
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed to advocate for student communication needs
• Adapt interpretation approach to suit classroom settings and individual student requirements
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions

Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreting skills
• Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred, especially with elementary-aged children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with educators and families
• Ability to position oneself unobtrusively in the classroom to provide continuous interpretation
• Flexibility to work full-time or part-time depending on school needs

• Position is located in Aurora, Illinois within an elementary school setting

Contract Details:

• Duration corresponds with the full school year (NSY)
• Contract position offering consistent school-based assignments
