Description
Position Title: Staff Accountant
Summary: This a dynamic role in a growing business where we have fun and wear many hats. The Staff Accountant will support the finance and accounting department by performing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial data, and assisting with month-end and year-end processes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with solid experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Integral member of the local mill leadership team.
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with the month-end close process.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and bank statements.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries.
- Manage basic accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Support audits and compliance activities with internal and external auditors.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within accounting functions.
- Assist with tax reporting and filings as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
- Other duties as addigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience .
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) .
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel skills) .
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment
Full-time position reporting to the President/CEO. Strong team collaboration is expected along with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year, based on experience.
Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance; Basic Life Insurance; Short and Long Term Disability; 401(k) with employer match up to 6%.
Additional Compensation: Annual performance bonus eligibility.
Requirements
