Summary
Reporting to the Head Laboratory Technologist, the Laboratory Technician involves handling biological samples, operating lab equipment, and contributing to cutting-edge research that shapes the future of patient therapy.
Responsibilities

• To perform activities ordered by the section head or head laboratory technologist (e.g. worklists).
• Ensures the sample material is correctly handled.
• Stores samples/subsamples in the correct storage location.
• Operates equipment correctly to obtain the correct analysis.
• Gives input of reagent stock status, functioning of equipment to the head laboratory technologist.
• Reports results, observations as required.
• Uses the LIMS system as and when appropriate.
• Ensures the working environment is clean and organized at all times.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university in the Biological Sciences.

Qualifications

• Lab experience a plus, but not required
• Experience working with MS Office
• Precise and detail-oriented
• Team player
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to write and speak fluently in English

Working Conditions

• Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Must accept to perform activities in a Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 or 2 laboratory where biological samples may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous viruses such as HIV, HCV, or CMV.
