As the Purchasing Director at ABS Graphics Inc., you will play a pivotal role in reducing expenditures through strategic purchasing decisions, effective planning, and seamless organization of our comprehensive purchasing functions. Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily operations, particularly in paper procurement, while ensuring compliance with mandated requirements. You will respond to various inquiries concerning processes and bid statuses, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions with vendors and service providers. Your expertise will be essential in achieving departmental objectives and goals within budget constraints.

To excel as the Purchasing Director at ABS Graphics Inc., a comprehensive skill set is essential. Candidates should have a minimum of four years of experience in outside purchasing, customer service, or sales within the graphic arts industry. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills are crucial for effective negotiation and vendor management.

Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, alongside experience with software like Avanti and financial tools, is highly preferred. A thorough understanding of ABS Graphics' services and production requirements will enable you to make informed decisions and enhance purchasing strategies. Successful candidates must demonstrate self-motivation, the ability to work independently under pressure, and prioritize tasks efficiently.

Additionally, strong math skills for calculations and data analysis are necessary, along with the competency to communicate effectively with diverse groups. Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and the capability to work on multiple projects simultaneously are vital for navigating the dynamic environment of a manufacturing setting.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in outside purchasing, customer service, or sales within the graphic arts industry is preferred
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills; experience in handling outside purchasing and pricing
• Advanced computer proficiency within the area of assigned responsibility preferred, and proficient in MS Office, particularly in Excel, Avanti, and financial software, is a plus
• Must acquire an in-depth understanding of all ABS Graphics services and capabilities
• Must know and understand production requirements as they relate to the job
• Must possess self-motivational skills and a positive attitude toward the most difficult requests when called upon
• Ability to work under pressure, to prioritize, and to work independently
• Perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include operating standard office equipment, including utilizing pertinent software applications, planning and managing projects, purchasing and financial management, and developing effective working relationships
• Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios, read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions, and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions
