Logistics Manager
Position Summary:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the organization’s logistics functions, across domestic and international channels. Responsibilities include warehousing, transportation, and distribution. This position ensures that products, materials, and supplies move efficiently through the supply chain to meet business objectives, service level requirements, and cost targets. The role requires cross-functional collaboration, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of logistics processes and systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Proven track record in LTL, TL, parcel and intermodal freight planning.
- Serve as subject matter authority on shipping costs, driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that optimize delivery timelines, reduce costs, and improve service reliability.
- Manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with national and international regulations.
- Select, negotiate with, and manage relationships with freight carriers, and other logistics vendors.
- Verify invoices against quotes for accuracy.
- Develop and maintain scoring metrics for transportation providers ranking them on service and cost.
- Monitor logistics KPIs (e.g., OTIF delivery, freight cost per unit, inventory accuracy) and implement corrective actions where needed.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, sales, and customer service teams to align logistics plans with business needs.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all logistics activities.
- Working knowledge of NMFC, HazMat, and FAK contraction and negotiations.
- Evaluate, modify, and set shipping/receiving SOP’s and best practices for all locations.
- File and manage all freight claims.
- Manage logistics budgets and drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and service levels.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of warehouse and inventory management best practices.
- Familiarity with transportation regulations, customs compliance, and import/export documentation.
- Proficiency in logistics-related software systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of materials or products up to 60 lbs.
- Regular visits to warehouse or distribution facilities, which may involve exposure to industrial environments (e.g., noise, moving equipment).
- Occasional travel will be required to vendor sites, distribution centers, or company facilities.
