Part-Time Bookkeeper Job Description
Location: McHenry, MD
Job Type: Part-Time (10-20 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $22 - $30 per hour (based on experience)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage our financial transactions and records. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial data, processing payroll, and preparing reports to support business operations. This role is perfect for a professional looking for a flexible work schedule in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable .
- Payroll Processing: Manage employee payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly.
- Financial Reporting: Generate monthly and quarterly financial reports for management.
- Tax Preparation Support: Assist in preparing financial documents for tax filing and liaising with accountants.
- Invoicing & Payments: Prepare and send invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Expense Tracking: Monitor business expenses, categorize transactions, and ensure compliance with budgeting guidelines.
- Software Utilization: Use QuickBooks (or other accounting software) to maintain financial records and generate reports.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or finance-related experience.
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting software .
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to accuracy and ability to manage multiple financial tasks.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Confidentiality: High level of integrity when handling sensitive financial information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with small businesses or companies with $1M+ in annual revenue .
- Knowledge of Maryland tax laws and payroll regulations .
- Ability to work independently and remotely, if necessary .
Schedule & Compensation:
- Hours: 10-20 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
- Compensation: $22 - $30 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
- Location: McHenry, MD (on-site or hybrid options may be available)
