Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design efforts for healthcare, municipal, and higher education projects. This role is responsible for managing mechanical and plumbing system design from initial concept through construction, including client coordination and overall project oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design across all project phases

• Coordinate directly with clients and manage RFIs, change orders, and site visits

• Design mechanical, process, and plumbing systems

• Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and detailed drawings

• Oversee preparation of construction documents, technical specifications, and estimates

• Develop cost estimates, bills of materials (BOMs), and project schedules

• Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes

Technical Expertise

• HVAC systems

• Chilled water, refrigeration, and ammonia systems

• Boiler, steam, and hot water distribution systems

• Compressed air systems

• Plumbing and fire protection systems

• Water and wastewater systems

• Equipment specification and evaluation

• Life cycle cost analysis and energy modeling

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (U.S. accredited institution)

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience within a consulting environment

• Strong HVAC system design experience

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

• Illinois PE license strongly preferred
