Host

The Lunchroom is looking for a part-time Host to join our team at our Gold Coast location. This position will be the first impression for our guests and will be key to delivering a memorable experience for all who dine with us. This role will be responsible to manage the seating of guests and will oversee The Lunchbox. The Host is an integral part of the FOH team and maintains a friendly, positive and professional attitude . We offer a small team where all team members’ contributions are valued.

This is a morning | day shift with required weekend availability, however occasional private parties and store sponsored events occur in the late afternoon and evening. Please learn more about our business and view our menu by visiting

Our ideal candidate will be organized and precise – with an eye towards consistency and quality. Prior experience maintaining a professional and friendly communication style with guests to create a welcoming client-centric environment is a must. The Host will serve as a restaurant ambassador and concierge to greet each guest as they enter and do whatever is necessary to assure they have the best experience possible.

The Lunchroom, a 40-seat breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch restaurant with an all-day café, is winner of “OpenTable Diner’s Choice’,  Chicago Magazine’s ‘Hot List’, and  Modern Luxury ‘Brunch Buzz. 

General Responsibilities + Expectations:

• Ensure a professional and friendly communication style with all guests during service, on the phone or during email communication.
• Have full knowledge of each table’s service status and use that information to give guests the best seating experience possible.
• Ring all to-go food and beverage items and properly handle payments with 100% accuracy.
• Maintain knowledge of all food and beverage offerings, including: ingredients, methods of preparation and proper service; be able to explain all food and beverage items listed on the menu.
• Fill in other areas of FOH as needed (i.e., barista).
• Assist with daily setup and breakdown of the dining area and midday resets, as needed.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Monitor sales of Lunchbox items and report back to management on sales trends and popularity.
  • This includes restocking all Lunchbox items and keeping track of all inventory.
