Director of Engineering

Summary
The Director of Engineering will oversee product engineering operations, quality control and maintenance department. In addition, the Director of Engineering will lead our engineering department and help us build great products, while managing our infrastructure and ensure all internal systems operate securely and effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage above-named teams, providing guidance, mentoring, and training to ensure the team's success and professional growth.
• Consults with Chief Operations Officer and Director of Operations and others to create long-range operating and manufacturing goals specific to the needs of the organization.
• Develop new products from concept to testing to production.
• Collaborates with other departments to determine market potential for new products.
• Oversee progress and timeliness of projects.
• Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures to optimize production efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.
• Monitor and analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards to maintain a safe and environmentally friendly work environment.
• Manage and oversee the implementation of new equipment, technologies, and automation systems to enhance manufacturing capabilities and efficiency.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and evaluate new technologies, materials, and equipment to improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues, troubleshoot problems, and optimize production output.
• Ensure compliance with all housekeeping 5S procedures and all quality and safety regulations.
• Using the design software, implement necessary changes and or new products for approvals.
• Assist programming on the floor utilizing the machine’s CNC software.
• Conduct research on product defects and recommend modifications in product or quality standards where warranted.
• Review existing molds to gain operational efficiency and to increase our capacity.

Required Skills

• Strong background in both heavy gauge thermoforming and CNC operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving goals and objectives.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly methods, machining, fabrication, and automation.
• Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and other engineering tools.
• Knowledge of quality management systems.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance in manufacturing operations.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and metrics to drive process improvements and optimization.
• Familiarity with quality control processes.

Education and/or Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
2. Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
3. Demonstrated experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and project management.
4. Knowledge of manufacturing operations and equipment thermoforming environments.
5. Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
6. Strong leadership and team management skills.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
