CareVet of Southern Illinois is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join our collaborative, multi-doctor team. This is an excellent opportunity to practice thoughtful, high-quality medicine in a supportive environment with a loyal client base and experienced staff. This position offers a six figure salary plus production, a generous signing bonus, paid family leave, and more!
Base salary range- 100k-130k based upon experience and location.
Your Role as an Associate Veterinarian
This is a clinical role within a respected, multi-doctor hospital where teamwork and support are key.
You will:
- Deliver high-quality care across a diverse small animal caseload
- Collaborate with experienced veterinarians and a skilled support staff
- Build strong client relationships and clearly communicate treatment plans
- Participate in case discussions and shared medical decision-making
- Explore your interests in surgery, dentistry, or medicine at your own pace
- Contribute to a positive and team-oriented culture
You’ll have the support of experienced doctors and leadership, allowing you to grow your skills while maintaining autonomy in your practice.

- Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
- Treat and dress wounds
- Perform surgery on animals
- Test for and vaccinate against diseases
- Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
- Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
- Prescribe medication
- Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
- Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
- Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
- Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
- Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
- Strong fondness and understanding of animals
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of animal behavior
- Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals
