Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac/Pulmonary Medical-Surgical Unit
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nurse Contract
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 27, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), 3 shifts per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000-$2050

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum one (1) year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – American Heart Association

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac and pulmonary patients in a medical-surgical unit
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications, manage IVs, perform blood administration, and monitor lab results
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide effective pain management
• Document patient care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Educate patients and families for safe discharge and care transitions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members and participate in team huddles
• Delegate nursing tasks appropriately and ensure follow-up care
• Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and correcting hazards
• Engage in professional communication, conflict management, and support peer development
• Identify personal learning needs and participate in ongoing professional development
