Public Works Employee Water/Wastewater Systems Technician
The Town of LaSalle is accepting applications for a full-time Public Works Water/Wastewater Systems Technician with benefits.
Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with weekend duty on a rotating basis and emergency call out availability.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Operating, maintaining, and adjusting LaSalle water or wastewater treatment plants, booster or sewage pumping station equipment in order to ensure compliance with State, Federal, and local laws, regulations and policies. The Technician utilizes knowledge and skills in multiple trades, such as mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and laboratory work to perform assigned duties.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supervises other Public Works staff and others at the direction of the Public Work Director.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Public Works Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observes all Federal, State and County safety rules, regulations and procedures.
Performs administrative tasks, such as, work orders, inventory, etc.
Responds to customer inquiries and complaints, and resolves customer problems.
Conducts preventative maintenance on treatment plant, wastewater pump or water booster station equipment.
Creates, reviews, analyzes and submits spreadsheets, graphing, and monthly operating and regulatory reports.
Performs and reviews results of laboratory testing, sample types, and collection methods for compliance with established standards and guidelines.
Contributes to the development of performance measurements.
Conducts sampling duties in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Conducts a variety of process tests.
Monitors sludge levels in lagoon system. Cleans and services equipment such as process floats, tanks, weirs, wall scum collectors, cascades, and distribution boxes.
Conducts general housekeeping, buildings and ground maintenance at treatment plants, pump or booster stations.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested within the divisions of the Public Works Department.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: SKILLS AND ABILITES BUT NOT LIMITED:
Minimum requirement include:
Knowledge of methods used in performing basic maintenance work and the ability to operate associated tools and equipment.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Five (5) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to walk for long distances and work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
Must be willing to work in potentially hazardous environment, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and after receiving adequate safety training.
Must be capable to performing strenuous physical labor.
Valid Colorado CDL Driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment).
Valid Wastewater Operator License (or willingness to obtain license).
Residency within 1 hour radius of LaSalle for emergency call out and on call requirements.

Salary Range $53,904 to $72,770 per year ($25.92 to $34.99 per hour) DOQ.
