Construction Manager II – Capital Projects (Chemical Manufacturing)

Stepan is looking for a hands-on Construction Manager to lead $1M–$3M capital projects at our Elwood chemical manufacturing site. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning multiple projects , balancing planning with field execution, and working inside an operating PSM-regulated plant .

You’ll have real autonomy - planning the work, coordinating contractors, sequencing activities, and executing projects safely within production-driven windows. No megaprojects, no year-long outages - just meaningful, varied work where your decisions matter.

What you’ll do

• Execute multiple capital construction projects from FEL through commissioning
• Plan construction scope, sequencing, schedules, and contractor activities
• Maintain strong field presence and champion safe work practices
• Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, and EHS

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years in heavy industrial manufacturing (chemical/PSM/refining)
• Experience executing construction projects in a chemical plant or other PSM-regulated environment
• Strong understanding of piping, tanks, and process systems
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Capital project execution experience managing field scope, schedules, and contractors
• Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities across Operations, Engineering, Safety, and contractors

Training provided for Stepan-specific permit processes and systems.

Pay Range: $84,000 - $113,000

The salary range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
