Qualifications

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of European history from the Renaissance through the present, including the Reformation, Scientific Revolution, Enlightenment, French Revolution, industrialization, imperialism, World Wars, Cold War, and European integration. Ability to explain political, economic, social, and cultural developments while preparing students for the AP European History examination.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching primary source analysis, document-based question construction, and long essay argument development for AP European History. Guides students through evaluating historical causation, analyzing continuity and change over time, making cross-period comparisons, and constructing evidence-based historical arguments. Emphasizes developing historiographical awareness and connecting European developments to global contexts.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with AP European History curriculum across nine periods and common challenges such as managing the breadth of content, writing thesis-driven DBQ responses, and analyzing visual primary sources. Adapts instruction using primary source workshops, timeline construction, and AP-style essay practice to support students developing historical thinking skills for the examination and college history coursework.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
