Travel Surgical Tech Job Details

• Location: Springfield, Illinois 62781 (Central Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 2, 2025 – December 2, 2025)
• Shift: 5x8-hour day shifts (06:45 – 15:15)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Requirement: One weekend per month (16 hours total)
• On-Call: As needed
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Parking: Free with permit
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1850–$1890 per week

Surgical Technologist Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist in a Level I Trauma Center
• Previous travel surgical tech experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only)
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred
• Experience in General OR, teaching hospital, and trauma settings
• Case experience required: ENT, Endoscopic, General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Oral, Orthopedic, Plastic Surgery, Trauma, Urology, Emergency Management
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed
• Must reside more than 50 miles from Springfield, IL facility
• Must arrive in Illinois 3 business days prior to compliance deadline for fingerprinting (if applicable)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Surgical Tech Responsibilities

• Assist in a wide range of surgical procedures, including trauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, ENT, plastics, and general surgery
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments in accordance with hospital protocols
• Handle, label, and process surgical specimens accurately
• Operate specialized surgical equipment (Xi Robot, Mazor Robot, Rosa Robot, microscopes, drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources)
• Maintain aseptic technique, follow isolation precautions, and adhere to radiation and sharps safety standards
• Float to other units within scope as needed to support hospital operations
• Participate in emergency management and fire safety protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
