Position Summary:
Kemper is looking for a highly talented and motivated person to join the Economic Capital Modeling team as a Senior Analyst. The Economic Capital Modeling Team is part of the Finance Strategic Planning & Execution (SP&E) team which executes high impact corporate finance and strategy projects in support of Treasury, Corporate Development, Investments, and other functional and business areas. This includes the creation and presentation of qualitative and quantitative analyses that provide critical insights into business and investments performance, capital and liquidity management, capital utilization and strategic opportunities.
The Senior Financial Analyst will create reporting to translate data into meaningful information to facilitate tactical and strategic decision-making. The Candidate must be comfortable working with large data sets to identify and model trends and risk drivers. Duties include calibrating and running Kemper's Economic Capital Model, producing deep financial analysis and ad hoc requests.
Position Responsibilities:
- Calibrate and run the economic capital model to produce analytics to support help leadership understand drivers of results, make decisions, and develop strategy.
- Interpret data and identify trends to provide real world context around the results from the economic capital model.
- Develop and maintain components of the economic capital model as tools to aid in data analysis
- Manage monthly financial reporting and provide variance analysis against actual results
- Prepare analytics that can be used for upper-level reports and presentations
- Aggregate and organize financial data from multiple platforms and systems and suggest procedural changes to increase the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency of models and reports used or produced by the team
- Frequently interact and coordinate with other departments to address business issues and to meet organizational objectives
- Support the development of analysis of company financial performance
- Develop new reports and models to drive key leadership insights into business performance
Position Requirements:
- 2-5 years of economic capital modelling, corporate finance, analysis, or accounting experience
- A Bachelors degree in actuarial science, finance, business, accounting, economics, or equivalent
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, R, PowerPoint and Word (Igloo and SQL a plus)
- Able to deliver accurate work products that meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of stochastic modeling calculations (Correlations, Monte Carlo Methods and VaR)
- Strong knowledge of financial statements (income statements, balance sheets and cash flows)
- Basic actuarial knowledge or modeling (reserves, combined loss ratios, lapse
- Insurance experience preferred (Property and Casualty and Life & Health a plus)
- Knowledge of insurance concepts, products, and distribution preferred but not required
- This position is a remote role and can work from a US based home.
The range for this position is $52,200 to $91,400. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
