Reports to: Director, Violence Prevention FLSA Code: Full-time, Exempt Hours: 40-hour workweek; weekends and evening hours as needed Program Area: Violence Prevention (VP) Location: Men’s Center, 402 N St Louis Ave, Chicago, IL 60624 Position Summary Demonstrating the mission and vision of Breakthrough Urban Ministries, the Victim Services Supervisor provides direct supervision of all Outreach Case Managers. Work includes providing consultation, training and direction to staff engaged in performing a variety of outreach, resource development and data entry. Essential Responsibilities/Functions- Maintains program oversight over the program’s overall activities.
- Ensures the CDPH monthly report and case management reports are submitted on the fifth of each month.
- Supervise, manage, train and coordinate the activities of all assigned staff using approved performance management processes and policies.
- Ability to stand in where there is a shortage of staff in the field and assume responsibility.
- Provides detailed statistical and narrative reports to the Associate Director.
- Attend and ensure meetings with related program partners
- Completes reports for funding agencies on a routine basis. Ensure all data is entered into the database daily.
- Identifies problems and develops in conjunction with staff and/or the Associate Director and develops and implements immediate corrective action plans.
- Monitor all case managers, victim advocates and outreach activities.
- Establishes and implements a system of internal quality management tracking and monitoring.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- A passion for the mission of Breakthrough
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred in a Human Services field OR minimum of three (3) years’ experience of case management or related experience OR a combination of related college coursework and related work experience.
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, as well as the willingness to become proficient in other software packages and programs.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
- Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and team-oriented.
- Maintain a high degree of sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy during stressful situations.
- Prepare accurate reports.
- Experience supporting and working with victims and/or their family of gun violence.
- Trauma informed trained.
- Familiarity with the concepts of Restorative Justice practices.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license along with daily access to a vehicle and acceptable driving record.
- Knowledge of program outcomes and deliverables.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to relate well to and coordinate with the people being served, solve problems, communicate effectively, gather and analyze data and make concise, accurate reports, and recommendations.
- Must have the ability to use initiative, discretion and independent judgment in making decisions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a multi-purpose facility and/or outdoors and thus will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be high depending on the activities in the facility.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and/or sit; use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; regularly talk or hear. The employee must be able to bend, stoop, pull, lift as well as have overhead extension of arms. Must be able to stand for long periods of time; be able to lift, carry or move at least 50 pounds. Must adhere to proper handling and lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Safety Requirements Prior to the first day of work, must complete a criminal background and sex offender clearance. - Section 125 Plan (FSA) - Through TASC, we allow full-time employees to make contributions toward premiums for medical insurance, out-of-pocket medical expenses, dependent care expenses, and/or transit and parking on a “before tax” rather than an “after tax” basis.
- Vacation Days - Full-time employees in this position are eligible to accrue vacation days at a rate of 6.67 – 13.33 days per month based on tenure with the organization.
- Personal Days - Full-time employees in this position are eligible for up to 3 personal days annually, pro-rated in year one.
- Sick Days - Full-time employees in this position are eligible for up to 10 sick days annually, pro-rated in year one.
The actual salary within the range is determined by many factors including but not limited to skills, experience, education and internal equity.
