Worship Technology Coordinator
Normal First United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Worship Technology Coordinator to support the mission and ministry of First United Methodist Church by enhancing worship and communication through technology. This role coordinates audio, video, and livestreaming for worship services and church events, equips and leads volunteers, and helps create meaningful and accessible worship experiences both in person and online.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with pastors, staff and leadership of Normal First United Methodist Church to further the vision and mission of the church through technology.
- Work effectively as a member of a team. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to deal effectively with volunteers, members of the congregation, and FUMC Staff.
- Oversee and coordinate audio, video recording, livestreaming and editing systems, and associated software as necessary to ensure high quality and reliability.
- Provide technical planning, set-up and execution, including preparation of presentations for weekly worship services and for holiday and special worship services, weddings, funerals, meetings and special events.
- Provide AV support to First United Methodist and Morningstar United Methodist church staff, church office and program areas within the Church.
- Coordinate all aspects of video production, including planning, scripting, recording, editing and distribution.
- Recruit, train, schedule, lead and provide oversight to technology volunteers.
- Produce web-ready video content to enhance the church’s website and digital communications.
- Recommend technology equipment and software.
- Attend staff meetings and various Committee meetings, as assigned.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and adhere to church policies regarding safe conduct, data privacy and protection, and technology use.
- Reports incidents of suspected fraud or concerns about inappropriate behavior to the Directing Pastors. In the event of suspected misconduct by the Directing Pastors, reports should be made to the Chair of the Staff/Parish Relations Committee.
We’re looking for someone with:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and post-high school training/education in all aspects of video production.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, organize efficiently, establish priorities, meet deadlines and attend to details.
- Familiarity with current AV, livestreaming and editing equipment and associated software.
- Demonstrated competence as a photographer and videographer.
- Proficiency in modern multimedia and editing programs.
- Willingness and ability to act as a servant leader to meet the needs of First United Methodist Church and its members and guests.
- Demonstrated ability to cross-train volunteers for the variety of tasks necessary to produce an online and streaming worship service.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team member with church staff and members.
- Ability to speak and act in a manner that is consistent with Christian principles.
- Leadership skills, including the ability to develop and motivate others, resolve conflict, delegate effectively and lead change.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, including strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
