John Hersey High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated PE/Health Teacher to join our dynamic team. We are committed to fostering a cooperative, supportive, and respectful environment where students thrive both academically and personally. We are looking for educators who are eager to collaborate, utilize student-centered teaching strategies, and actively participate in professional learning communities.
Our ideal candidate possesses a strong background in Physical Education and Health Education and a passion for inquiry-based learning. We are looking for an educator who prioritizes physical safety and inclusive participation , using active games and hands-on health lessons to make wellness concepts accessible to all students.
You should be a collaborative team player, eager to work within a professional learning community to develop innovative, student-centered lessons that spark curiosity, teamwork, and a lifelong commitment to physical literacy.
Physical Education/Health Teacher- 1.0 FTE
Qualifications:
- State of Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) with Senior HS endorsements in Physical Education and Health Education.
- Willingness to work cooperatively with other teachers in the Physical Education and Health Departments to develop new course work and to continually improve existing programs.
- EL/ML endorsement preferred, but not required.
- Strength and Conditioning experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to teach courses at various academic levels.
- Must have excellent teaching skills with the ability to work in a variety of learning environments.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to support building co-curricular activities such as a coach, or sponsor.
- Commitment to working with an interdisciplinary or integrated team: designing, implementing, and refining curriculum.
- Proficiency in the use of instructional and multimedia technologies.
- Candidate should be an active member in professional organizations related to Physical Education and Health Education content area.
