Shipping, Receiving & Production Support Clerk
Job Description
LN Engineering is hiring a Shipping & Receiving Clerk – Inventory Support position in Momence, Illinois.
This is a hands-on role in a specialty automotive manufacturing environment. This position supports the daily flow of incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory movement, product kitting, production support, customer property handling, and general organization of the shipping/receiving area.
This is not just a packing and shipping position. The right candidate will help with shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, material handling, product assembly/kitting, documentation, and shop support as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify items against purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, or other documentation.
- Inspect incoming packages for obvious damage, shortages, incorrect items, or discrepancies.
- Properly identify, label, tag, and route received items, including customer property received for service.
- Pick, pack, and ship customer orders accurately.
- Review invoices, sales orders, and outgoing purchase orders to ensure correct items are pulled, packed, labeled, and shipped.
- Package products carefully to help prevent shipping damage.
- Use HandiFox handheld scanners and QuickBooks-related inventory tools to receive items, check quantities, look up locations, update inventory, enter notes, and correct basic data as needed.
- Assemble products, kits, hardware packages, and related components according to instructions.
- Pull, stage, and move materials, work orders, hardware, and components to the correct department, work area, or technician.
- Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, bin labeling, item identification, and inventory organization.
- Communicate shortages, damaged items, incorrect parts, unclear paperwork, or other issues to the appropriate department.
- Coordinate with quality, purchasing, production, sales, shipping/receiving, and operations as needed.
- Support quality handoff by routing incoming items that require inspection or follow-up to the appropriate area.
- Assist with parts washing, prep work, material handling, or other shop-support tasks when needed.
- Operate pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, scissor lifts, or other approved equipment safely if trained and authorized.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping/receiving area, staging area, and related workspaces.
- Assist with general housekeeping, including disposing of scrap packaging, breaking down boxes, and taking out trash as needed.
- Follow company procedures related to shipping, receiving, inventory, customer property, safety, documentation, and quality.
- Perform other related warehouse, inventory, production-support, or shipping/receiving tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, inventory, manufacturing, or material-handling experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, work orders, labels, and basic inventory documentation.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Ability to use or learn handheld scanner systems, including HandiFox for QuickBooks.
- Ability to enter, verify, and correct basic inventory or receiving data accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to stay organized while handling multiple shipments, orders, parts, or priorities.
- Ability to communicate clearly when items are missing, damaged, mislabeled, unclear, or not matching paperwork.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to support production, quality, inventory, and shop-flow tasks as needed.
- Experience with UPS, FedEx, USPS, freight shipping, QuickBooks, HandiFox, inventory systems, forklifts, pallet jacks, or manufacturing environments is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, move, and package products throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and move items up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to use carts, pallet jacks, or team-lift assistance for heavier or awkward items.
- Ability to work in a shop, warehouse, and shipping/receiving environment.
Pay and Benefits:
Pay range: $18–$24/hour depending on experience.
Higher compensation may be considered for candidates with strong shipping/receiving, inventory control, handheld scanner/ERP, forklift, manufacturing, or production-support experience.
