OverviewGallagher’s insurance brokerage operation provides insurance placement for all lines of coverage, program administration, risk management, and consulting services to clients across all US states and territories. The compliance department for the US retail brokerage, Affinity, wholesale brokerage, captive and reinsurance divisions is part of the legal department. A primary function includes management of all regulatory obligations, administrative services, integration of support resources, training, as well as maintenance of entity and individual level insurance licensing. All compliance related functions includes use of internal and external electronic systems, coordination with outside vendors, and collaboration with business operations leaders. The open position requires experience in insurance broker licensing standards, a working knowledge of state-by-state licensing requirements, and experience managing high level and confidential information in support of the licensing and regulatory function.
The primary role requires coordination and oversight of all entity level licensing requirements for the US retail and wholesale brokerage, which includes P&C, Personal Lines, Life & Health, TPA and Reinsurance, management of the vendor relationships that support licensing, and participation in continual improvement to process, procedures, and support to the business. This role reports directly to the Senior Licensing Administrator for the US Insurance P&C and Specialty Brokerage Division, Affinity Operations, and includes support to the entire legal/compliance team.
How you'll make an impactKey Responsibilities
- Support the divisional Senior Licensing Administrator to oversee and facilitate all admitted and non-admitted entity level licensing for the US retail and specialty brokerage that includes surplus lines, captive and reinsurance business.
- Liaise with supporting license vendors and the National Licensing Center (NLC)
- Coordinate appropriate business entity applications for licenses, renewals, and appointments required by 50 states.
- Facilitate application and renewal process for MGA and TPA business segments.
- Understand the US brokerage and specialty divisions’ M&A activity and implementation of entity licensing; assist in evaluation of licensing onboarding.
- Provide licensing knowledge and assistance to our production teams, client service professionals and the surplus lines tax department.
- Summarize licensing data in a way that is productive to those inside and outside of the compliance department.
- Work in coordination with surplus lines tax group to formulate educational and resource material with distribution to surplus lines license holders and their support teams.
- Knowledge and proficiency with state regulatory agency software and filing requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience in the industry.
- 5+ years of regulatory/compliance experience with an insurance broker or carrier compliance department or related field of work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail in all essential functions.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment, as well as independently.
- Deadline and task driven.
- Must keep abreast of changing retail P&C, L&H, wholesale, reinsurance and TPA licensing regulations, guidelines, and individual state laws, and have the ability to timely analyze and synthesize the information to the broader field of licensees.
- Coordinate with client service operations team leaders on integration of licensing and industry best practices.
- Proficient with technology including, but not limited to, all Microsoft Products, Adobe Connect, Teams, and ability to learn additional software programs.
- Ability to navigate electronic systems and software, generate reports, and analyze data toward continual business improvement and efficiency.
- Ability to travel to attend industry related association meetings.
Additional Considerations: Professional designations, involvement in professional organizations, knowledge of national carriers, TPAs, and professional insurance associations is a plus
