Accounts Payable Specialist

Hours: M-F 8:30am-5:30pm CST
Overview:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external vendors to resolve payment issues and maintain positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, verify, and process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports for accuracy and proper authorization.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents, ensuring proper coding to general ledger accounts.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounts payable records and vendor files.
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments, including ACH and wire transactions.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and vendor statements.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues in a timely manner.
- Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to answer inquiries regarding payments and invoices.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and account reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
