The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable claims denial review specialist to join our SkinCure Oncology team. This role is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and resolving denied medical claims to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance with payer guidelines. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of medical billing and coding, insurance policies, and the appeals process, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.

What You'll Do

• Review and analyze denied claims to determine root cause and appropriate corrective action
• Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), denial codes, and insurance payer guidelines
• Research and resolve claim denials through appeals, corrections, or additional documentation
• Communicate with payers, providers, and internal departments to gather and clarify information
• Utilize electronic health records (EHR), billing systems, and clearinghouses for claims processing
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, insurance regulations, and internal policies
• Monitor trends in denials and report findings to support process improvement
• Stay current on changes in medical coding, billing rules, and insurance requirements

What You'll Bring

• Strong understanding of insurance plans (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers)
• Experience with EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, and billing software)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage time and workload independently
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards
• Proficiency in medical billing and coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
• 2+ years of experience in medical claims and denial management
• Experience in provider office or third-party billing environment
• Knowledgeable in medical billing/coding
• Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to diverse EHR and practice management (PM) systems

Additional Details

• Employment Type: Regular, full-time
• Salary Type: Hourly
• Pay: $22-$24 per hour
• Work Location: Hybrid based out of our Burr Ridge headquarters. The position is hybrid after 90 days and quality assurance audit proven self-sufficiency.
• Transportation: Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
