Part-Time Synagogue Event Staff
About the Job
JRC is seeking friendly and professional facility event staff to join our team! JRC facility event staff play an integral role in supporting programming, ritual, and rentals at JRC by setting up and taking down spaces, supervising building access, assisting with A/V and other tech needs, and performing light custodial work. They provide support and oversight during events, including greeting guests, room turnovers, supervision of hallways, and assisting caterers and other vendors. Facility event staff are supervised by the Director of Engagement and Programming.

Salary & Hours
This role is part-time, non-exempt, and pays $20 hourly commensurate with experience.
We are looking for a team member to join us and work weekly shifts on Tuesdays from 3:15-10:30pm and Fridays from 5:30-10:30pm.
We are ideally looking for someone who can work both shifts per week, but will consider candidates who can commit to one of these on a weekly basis. JRC commits to paying for scheduled hours if an event is cancelled less than two weeks (14 days) in advance.

Benefits include paid holidays per the JRC personnel handbook and paid sick leave in accordance with the Cook County Earned Leave Ordinance.
Essential Functions
Essential job functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Facility Setup
- Communicate with the Director of Engagement and Programming in advance of events to understand facility and programmatic needs.
- Complete set up and take down of event spaces; requires heaving lifting of tables, chairs, and other furnishings as needed.
- Set up A/V and other tech equipment, troubleshooting any issues that arise during the event.
- Prepare coffee/water and light food set up as needed.
- Greet event vendors and assist as needed.
- Provide light custodial cleaning after events, including washing dishes, sweeping, and taking out trash.
- Ensure facility and event spaces are clean and tidy before and after events.
- Occasionally transport equipment to an offsite location.
Facility Management During an Event
- Act as liaison/host to renters and member groups during events, ensuring all event needs are met in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Monitor the front door and ensure the following of JRC’s safety protocols.
- Greet guests and members with warmth and enthusiasm.
- Oversee ongoing event needs, such as refilling silverware, emptying dishes from the buffet, or adding more chairs to a table.
- Monitor hallways, guide guests—especially children—who may need to be redirected to appropriate spaces.
- Understand and oversee the implementation of JRC’s safety plan.
- Report any time sensitive issues to the supervisor.

Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have access to your own vehicle for any shifts that require transporting supplies to an offsite location
- Must be able to lift 30lbs
- Must be able to perform physical responsibilities of this role including but not limited to stacking chairs, moving chairs on dollies, setting up banquet tables, and more
