Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist who will plan and perform a variety of machine operations utilizing numerical control machining centers to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications. You will be working primarily with stainless steel and tight tolerances, managing a 4-axis CNC Mill in a job shop style facility.

Responsibilities

• Interpret complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets to determine work to be done.
• Perform a variety of milling, drilling, boring, or related operations to close and interrelated tolerances.
• Review setup sheets and specifications to determine machining sequence and dimensions of finished work pieces.
• Attach fixtures to machine beds and position and secure work pieces in fixtures according to setup instructions.
• Select and install cutting tools in machine spindle or magazine.
• Load programs in machine control console or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from the database.
• Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tools to specified set points and start machines.
• Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
• Change cutting tools and location of work pieces during machining processes as specified in setup instructions.
• Perform a variety of inspection and gauging operations to ensure maintenance of quality standards and specifications.
• Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, preferably with mill experience, or 2+ years as a CNC Operator.
• Ability to perform full setups (3 setups per shift).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Mechanical skills with hand and power tools, micrometers, calipers, and other measurement devices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or CNC Trade School.
• Proficiency in CNC setup, milling, tooling, and precision machining.
• Experience with machines such as Okuma, Haas, and Mazak.
• Knowledge of G-code, machine setup, CNC programming, and blueprint reading.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Downers Grove, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
