Job Description
Leadership of Oncology Program Management Therapeutic Area team
Drives optimal Oncology Therapeutic Area Strategic Council (TASC) operations with a cross-functional strategic mindset and effectively coordinating and collaborating with Oncology TASC leaders as well as other function leaders (R&D, Commercial, Operations, etc.)
Supports optimized Asset Strategy Team (AST), Disease Strategy Team (DST), and Deliverable Teams (Integrated evidence, Brand, Value and Access) strategy and execution and drives consistency across teams
Drives and/or supports key strategic initiatives associated with the growth and prioritization of AbbVie’s Oncology portfolio, disease areas, and technology platforms
Seeks process improvement opportunities for AbbVie’s drug development process
Responsibilities
Supports and coordinates TASC development of the cross-functional TA Strategy, Disease Area Strategy, portfolio lifecycle strategies, and drives cross-functional alignment in execution of these.
Ensures appropriate risk and issue identification and management both for ASTs and for TASC.
Drives optimal TASC operations with a cross-functional strategic mindset:
Serves as a core member of the TASC, and works closely with TASC leaders such as Oncology Business Unit President, Oncology Development TA Head, Oncology Asset Strategy Leader Vice President
Coordinates TASC activities, agendas, and deliverables and drives cross-functional alignment within TASC and structures TASC discussions to drive robust and agile decision-making practices.
Actively contributes to cross-functional TASC discussions both from a PM functional perspective, and a cross-functional strategic perspective.
Supports optimized AST operations and drives consistency across teams and TAs:
Accountable for helping teams navigate the governance process effectively and efficiently and appropriate use of each forum.
Ensures high performing ASTs and Deliverable Teams through monitoring and assessing team’s performance within TA, and driving shared learning and collaborating with other TA PM heads to ensure consistency across the portfolio.
Partners closely with Oncology Asset Strategy Leader (ASL) VP and other TASC leaders in driving and/or supports key TASC sponsored strategic initiatives associated with the growth and prioritization of AbbVie’s Oncology portfolio, disease areas, and technology platforms
Provides guidance to ASTs for deliverables (e.g. program strategies, milestone progression materials etc.)
Seeks process improvement opportunities for AbbVie’s drug development process:
Drives adherence to the AbbVie drug development process and team operations and consistency across teams and TAs (in partnership with other PM TA Head colleagues.
Leadership of the assigned Program Management Therapeutic Area(s):
Line management responsibilities for AST/DST staff (and sub-team PM staff to the extent they’re supported centrally)
Manages TA PM program assignments and resource allocation
Recruits, develops, manages and retains TA PM staff
Ensures a cross-functional mindset for PM staff and for their interactions on their ASTs, DSTs and Deliverable teams
Drives development and continual elevation of the standard of program management at AbbVie through coaching
Drive shared learning across PM staff to aid increased consistency across teams both in standards of PM support and team operations
Ensures application of best practice program management
Partners with colleagues in the PM organization and governance teams to seek process improvement opportunities and champions their execution.
Qualifications
8-10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a variety of roles associated with drug development (research and development, commercial, project management, operations) with a track record of expertise in one or more therapeutic areas
Minimum of 5 years leading drug development teams as a cross-functional program management director (or equivalent)
Experience in directly managing staff and building staff capabilities
Strong strategic thinking, problem solving and leadership skills
Seasoned communication skills and executive presence
Broad knowledge of program management practices in the pharmaceutical industry
Experience in drug development (especial focus on late-stage development)
Experience with both global and regional teams in the pharmaceutical industry

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this postingbased on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more orless than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
