The Opportunity

Ally Insurance views its operations organization as a strategic component of Insurance and is expected to work cross functionally and pursue innovative ways to improve quality and services to customers through process improvement and deployment of emerging and innovative technologies. The Claims Operations Manager is a unique high impact, high profile position requiring the ability to operate with autonomy, think strategically and communicate with peers and executives across many functions. It is designed as a role where the right leader can lead significant change and rapidly grow.

Working in the Schaumburg office, this leader will report to the Director of Claims Operations and focus on claim handling operations for VSC, GAP and other ancillary products. Responsibilities include leading Team Leaders/Managers, Team Coordinators, and 70+ person staff supporting claims and product administration. The successful candidate will leverage advanced analytics and assess/implement the application of innovative tools to improve process capabilities, while identifying leakage points. They will partner and collaborate with peers to solve business process problems and communicate regularly with executive team members and members of the Risk teams. Most importantly, they will lead by example with a straightforward culture of candor, innovation, and customer centric focus.

The Work Itself

  • Manage internal claims operations to achieve a high level of efficiency, and customer service while effectively controlling cost, managing process improvement and innovation initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and develop managers on your team. Responsibilities include setting direction and deploying resources to achieve business objectives. Support a culture of positive employee engagement, productive performance environment and quality service to dealer customers.
  • Craft and communicate status and projects for Loss and Operational activities to executives.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with regulations, policies, procedures, and the fair claims settlement practices act.
  • Provide leadership guidance on technical matters regarding claims. Partnering with the data analytics team to source data, compile data, and determine impacts and actions necessary to maintain loss control.
  • Assist, review, and maintain operations within budget. Ensure changes cascade through operations smoothly leading change management efforts.
  • Act as Business line leader providing guidance on system enhancements impacting claims processes and business needs. Manage internal claims operations to achieve a high level of efficiency and customer service while effectively controlling cost, managing process improvement and innovation initiatives.

The Skills You Bring

  • 5 + year experience managing and handling VSC and GAP Insurance claims
  • At least 5+ years leadership experience managing managers and teams of 10+ with Engagement scores meeting or exceeding targets
  • In-depth automotive mechanical knowledge and loss control experience
  • Working knowledge of Power BI. Experience creating PP Presentations and delivering information to Sr, Leadership
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical and mechanical knowledge, project management, curiosity, and ability to influence others.
  • Ability to provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise.
  • Ability to leverage expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results.
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business oriented field
