Aerospace Precision Quality Inspector
Job Description
Job Description
About the Role
Join a precision manufacturing company in the Downers Grove area as an integral member of our quality team. As an Aerospace Precision Quality Inspector, you’ll ensure that precision machined components meet stringent customer and industry standards through diligent in‑process and final inspections.
A Day in the LifeYou begin by grabbing your micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators—verifying they’re in proper working order. On the floor, you move between workstations, performing in‑process checks, confirming dimensions and surface finishes against blueprints, specifications, and inspection plans. You interpret GD&T callouts and process sheets to validate compliance, capturing results and any nonconformances using established quality procedures. When something’s off, you notify operators and supervisors immediately to keep production on track. Throughout the day, you help maintain calibration status for measurement tools and keep inspection records organized—upholding our requirements for traceability, documentation, and cleanliness. You close the shift with final inspections so parts ship with confidence.
What You’ll Do- Conduct in‑process and final inspections of precision parts using hand and digital instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.).
- Verify dimensions and surface finish per blueprints, specifications, and inspection plans.
- Record inspection results, nonconformances, and test data in accordance with quality procedures.
- Communicate real‑time quality issues and dimensional discrepancies to operators and supervisors.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and process sheets to confirm conformance.
- Assist with calibration upkeep and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Maintain strict standards for traceability, documentation, and a clean workspace.
- 2+ years in manufacturing or quality inspection, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or precision machining.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency.
- Hands‑on expertise with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc.).
- Experience with CMM operation or data review is a plus, not a requirement.
- Exceptional attention to detail, clear communication, and a dedication to quality.
- Competitive hourly pay with overtime potential
- Stable, long‑term role in a clean, climate‑controlled facility
- Comprehensive benefits after hire (health, dental, vision, 401k, etc.)
- Team‑focused environment with opportunities for advancement
