The company is currently looking for a dependable and detail-focused Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations. This role is essential to maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance, and keeping accounting processes running efficiently across the organization.

In this position, you will take ownership of key accounting functions, including managing sales tax filings, handling accounts payable, processing payroll, and supporting benefits administration. You will be responsible for maintaining and reconciling subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger, preparing trial balances, and ensuring all financial entries are accurate and complete.

Additional duties include performing bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, overseeing vendor payments through Bill.com, and ensuring timely and accurate settlement of invoices. You will also help develop and maintain the chart of accounts and implement effective systems for tracking and recording financial transactions.

The role requires careful organization of historical financial records, ensuring that all supporting documentation is properly filed and easily accessible. You will prepare clear and well-structured financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial data and trends. Collaboration with the broader finance team on deadlines, reporting cycles, and special projects will also be part of your responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has completed college-level accounting coursework and demonstrates strong proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise and Bill.com. A solid understanding of cash flow and cash management practices is essential, along with the ability to analyze point-of-sale data and translate it into meaningful financial insights. Accuracy, confidentiality, attention to detail, and strong reporting skills are critical for success in this role.

Candidates must be based in the Chicago area. The position is primarily work-from-home, with occasional time required at the company’s downtown Chicago location.
