Public Works Employee
The Town of LaSalle is accepting applications for a full-time public works position with benefits.
Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with weekend duty on a rotating basis and emergency call out availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs repairs and maintenance of treatment plant equipment and facilities. Maintains lift stations, bar screens, and records.
Performs water meter reading, testing and repair. Installs water taps and collection and distribution systems repairs and installations including excavation and site restoration.
Inspects meter pits and service line locations for leaks, illegal hook-ups or incorrect water service installations, and reports any such situations to the Public Works Director.
Locates water service lines, valve locations, and meter pits, marks meter and service line locations.
Performs water shut off / turn on as instructed.
Cleans and maintains storm sewer systems.
Performs street maintenance and pot hole repairs. Operates and maintains all equipment owned by the Town of LaSalle Public Works.
Performs general maintenance of streets, including sanding, snow removal, sweeping, grading, painting, and sign maintenance.
Performs repair and maintenance of parks, park equipment and facilities, including turf maintenance, mowing, tree trimming, sodding, fertilizing, administering chemical applications as allowed by licensing, and other related landscaping activities. This also includes repair or replacement of sprinkler systems and plumbing.
Performs cleaning and inspections of all facilities, including public restrooms and insures that all supplies are stocked for use.
Maintains records of past supply and equipment usage.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested within the divisions of the Public Works Department.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: SKILLS AND ABILITES BUT NOT LIMITED:
Knowledge of methods used in performing basic maintenance work and the ability to operate associated tools and equipment.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to walk for long distances and work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
Must be willing to work in potentially hazardous environment, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and after receiving adequate safety training.
Must be capable to performing strenuous physical labor.
Valid Colorado CDL Driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 6 year of employment).
Valid Wastewater Operator License (or willingness to obtain license).
Residency within 1 hour radius of LaSalle for emergency call out and on call requirements.
Salary Range $45,000 to $66,154 per year ($21.63 to $31.80 per hour) DOQ.
