Activity and Workshop Facilitator
Job Summary
This is a contract opportunity with Northeastern Illinois University’s Center for College Access and Success (NEIU-CCAS). Candidates require a strong background and knowledge in either of the following content areas: College Readiness and Awareness, Arts Integration, or STEM Integration. Candidates must have a comfortability facilitating to urban students and family members at low-income schools that are between the 5th - 8th grade level. Candidates must also have the ability to collaborate with the development of activities. Candidates with bilingual skills in English/Spanish are preferred, but not required. Facilitation assignments require availability during regular school day hours, with occasional opportunities during after-school hours and on Saturdays. Facilitation opportunities take place across the Chicagoland area, so a reliable mode of transportation is necessary. Selected contractors will report to the NEIU-CCAS Senior Business Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate activities in the content areas of College and Career Readiness, Arts Integration, or STEM Integration to students or their supporting family members in a classroom setting
- Facilitate engaging activities for participating middle school students that tour Northeastern Illinois University campuses
- Assist with student and family workshop development, as needed
- Attend and participate in facilitator trainings with NEIU-CCAS direct service support staff
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma and at least 30 college credits from an accredited college or university is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred
- High proficiency working with presentation software, such as Microsoft Power Point
- Commitment and sensitivity to school communities that serve low-income families
- Experience working with urban youth and their families
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish are a requirement if contracted to facilitate to a Spanish speaking community
Other Information
- Compensation is $25 per hour for participating in trainings, preparation time for activities, facilitation of activities, and some travel
- Contract assignments are based on service demand for a short-term project between April 2026 through July 2026
- Total contract hours will range between 50 – 150 hours; Assignments are based on contractors availability, but are normally scheduled during week days between the hours of 8am – 4pm
- Contractors must pass background checks for each assigned school district, as required
