Senior Software Architect (Chicago)

Responsibilities:

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for migrating from a monolithic system to microservices.
• Design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native services using best practices in distributed systems.
• Guide development teams in implementing microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Ensure system design meets our performance & scalability needs.
• Work cross-functionally with product managers, DevOps, QA, and other stakeholders to align architecture with business goals.
• Provide technical mentorship to peers.
• Establish architectural standards, documentation practices, and governance models.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and tools.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineerin g, or a related field.
• Proven experience leading architectural transformations from monolith to microservices.
• Strong background in AWS cloud platform, containerization and CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in designing REST APIs, asynchronous messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and service orchestration.
• Deep understanding of system scalability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, NodeJS).
• Architecting microservices in NodeJS.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with OCPP and/or real-time device communication.
• Experience with EV charging systems or energy products is a bonus.
