PCU RN Job Details – Springfield, IL

• Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• Shift: 4x12-hour night shifts per week (18:45 – 07:15); 3x12s may be possible if discussed and approved by the manager
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC/PCU) – 3E
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Setting: Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated hospital
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000 - $2050

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in PCU, Stepdown, or IMC nursing
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications (AHA or Red Cross)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Proficiency in telemetry, neuro stepdown, and cardiac monitoring
• Ability to float to other units within scope as needed
• Availability to work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Level I Trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a busy IMC/PCU (Progressive Care Unit) setting
• Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
• Care for ventilated patients, tracheostomies, and manage chest tubes
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage central/PICC lines
• Support patients before and after cardiac and neurosurgical procedures
• Manage feeding tubes, wound care, and wound vacs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to other nursing units as needed to support facility needs
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Cerner EMR
