Inpatient Oncology ACNP's or Physician Assistants Needed in Chicago, IL!Â

We are urgently seeking 2 Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants for 4-6 months of Inpatient Oncology Locums Coverage in Chicago! These providers will be working a 3-12's schedule that includes every other weekend, the other days will be during the week.

Start Date: February/Early March

End Date: 4-6 months, with extensionÂ

• APP service line covered by an attending Oncologist. Each provider carries 6-7 patients.Â
• Covering Medical Leave and employee transfer - 2 providers needed for daytime coverage.Â
• 3-12's Daytime schedule, No Call. Â Weekdays, and every other weekend.
• 6/7am - 6:30/7:30pmÂ

Brief Description:Â

Â

• Manage leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, amyloid, stem cell harvest admitted to the inpatient service. Manage daily labs, vitals, transfusions, electrolyte replacement.
• Manage acute oncologic emergencies, complications of malignancies, complications of relapsed disease, chemo side effect management.Â
• Admit and discharge patientsÂ
• Â Work with interdisciplinary team to coordinate discharge plans for patient for follow up in the outpatient setting (social work, PT/OT, consult services, nursing staff, patient placement, fellows, residents, pharmacists, multiple attendings, outpatient teams)
• Â Perform bone marrow biopsies and skin punch biopsiesÂ
• Present patients to attending and coordinate care plan with pharmacist and care team. Consult specialty services as needed.
• Answer pages from nursing staff, communicate handoff to morning and night APP coverage. Manage movement of patients from the ED and two teaching services.
• End of life care, goals of care discussions, communicate up dates to family, educate patients and family about malignancy, treatments, health status updates, safe at home practices.Â

Required: Â

• Active IL LicenseÂ
• Acute Care NP certification for Nurse Practitioners
• Experience Managing leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, amyloid, stem cell harvest admitted to the inpatient service. Manage daily labs, vitals, transfusions, electrolyte replacement.
• Manage acute oncologic emergencies, complications of malignancies, complications of relapsed disease, chemo side effect management.
