Position Overview

This position is accountable for ensuring that project documentation supports the certification and acceptability of materials used on federal and state funded highway improvements projects. Project acceptance is accomplished using the Materials Integrated System for Test Info. and Comm. (MISTIC)/Construction and Materials Management System (CMMS) after comparing material inspection records and construction pay items. This position also works closely with the Bureau of Construction to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all inspection records for final project payment to the contractor.

Essential Functions

• Ensures accurate and timely material documentation.
• Promptly and accurately resolves material deficiencies.
• Determines acceptability of producer's certifications.
• Ensures information is properly documented in the Materials Integrated System for Test Info. and Comm. (MISTIC)/Construction and Materials Management System (CMMS) and corresponds to contract requirements.
• Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience; OR six years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with construction and materials related programs like CMMS/ICORS/MISTIC.
• Experience with documentation and construction project closeout.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to resolve conflicts.
