Essential Functions

  • Under general direction, serves a an Internal Auditor for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), in charge of assigned Divisions on various complex, non-routine audit projects and conducting and assigning audit segments to team members and explaining the assignment's relationship to the overall audit objectives.
  • Conducts entrance conferences and meets with department personnel to discuss detail, duration and scope of the audit.
  • Analyzes and compiles information gathered for assigned audit or audit segment and drafts working papers, compiles supporting materials that identify preliminary audit findings, and submits for review by the Information Systems Auditor and the Chief Internal Auditor.
  • Assists the Information Systems Auditor and the Chief Internal Auditor in the preparation of audit procedures and audit manuals to be used by the Division of Internal Audit.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in fiscal management, accounting, budget, internal audit, insurance, or finance in a public or business organization.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in fiscal management, accounting, budget, internal audit, insurance, or finance in a public or business organization.

Specialized Skills

  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience planning and conducting internal audits of programs, operations, or systems in a public or business organization.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience evaluating internal controls to identify risk exposures, assess compliance, and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience drafting comprehensive internal audit reports, including documenting findings, conclusions, and recommended actions using Microsoft Office Suite tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and ServiceNow.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of professional experience planning and conducting internal audits of programs, operations, or systems in a public or business organization.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience evaluating internal controls to identify risk exposures, assess compliance, and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience drafting comprehensive internal audit reports, including documenting findings, conclusions, and recommended actions using Microsoft Office Suite tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and ServiceNow.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience facilitating audit-related meetings, including entrance and exit conferences, and communicating audit scope, findings, and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience analyzing policies, procedures, records, and system data to assess program effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with laws or internal standards.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience assisting in the development or revision of internal audit programs, procedures, or manuals to improve audit methodologies and standardize practices.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience supporting or delivering internal training initiatives related to audit procedures, privacy awareness, or internal controls.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical audit findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, management, and audit stakeholders throughout all phases of the audit process.
