Job Title: Brazing Machine Operator
Job Description
This entry-level role focuses on performing manual torch brazing, primarily on copper-to-copper joints, to support the production of high-conductivity power distribution components used in electric vehicles and industrial power systems. You will set up and operate hand-held torches, prepare materials, and ensure strong, leak-proof bonds that meet quality and safety standards. Comprehensive training will help you build your skills in brazing techniques, blueprint reading, and safe operation of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate hand-held oxygen-fuel torches to heat copper components to the correct temperature for proper alloy flow.
- Apply flux and filler metals, including silver and phosphorus-copper alloys, to create clean, high-conductivity joints between copper plates, terminals, or tubes.
- Clean and degrease copper surfaces prior to brazing to ensure proper bonding and joint integrity.
- Use jigs and fixtures to align parts accurately according to blueprints or drawings.
- Remove flux residue and oxidation from completed joints to maintain product quality and appearance.
- Perform thorough visual inspections of brazed joints to confirm complete capillary action and bond integrity.
- Follow detailed work instructions and blueprints to meet production specifications and quality standards.
- Operate and monitor machines and hand tools safely and efficiently during brazing and related tasks.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols for pressurized gas cylinders, open flames, and ventilation systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle general labor tasks such as labeling and material handling as needed.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–2+ years of experience setting up and operating machines, or willingness to complete additional specialized training and/or certification if less experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow instructions and document work.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or mechanical environment.
- Basic brazing or soldering experience, or strong mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn.
- Capability to perform general labor tasks, including labeling and material preparation.
- Strong attention to detail for visual inspection of brazed joints and adherence to specifications.
- Commitment to following safety procedures when working with open flames, gas cylinders, and production equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience with torch brazing on copper components is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine setup and operation in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working with jigs, fixtures, and alignment tools to hold parts in place during brazing.
- Basic understanding of flux types, filler metals, and their proper application.
- Interest in ongoing technical training and skill development in brazing and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work effectively on a set shift schedule from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The environment includes running equipment that generates slight noise, and you will regularly use hand tools, power tools, and hand-held oxygen-fuel torches as part of your daily tasks. The role follows a consistent second-shift schedule from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., providing predictable hours in a structured production setting.
