Experienced CNC Machinist

We’re seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and perform periodic programming on 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment. This role requires the ability to handle complex contour milling, drilling, boring, and tapping with minimal supervision.

If you have 5+ years of CNC experience with steel machining , you’re exactly who we want to talk to. Candidates with at least 5 years of steel cutting experience in addition to 5+ years of CNC operation will also be considered. Operator-only experience will not qualify — we need candidates with proven setup, troubleshooting, and teardown skills.

Location: Champaign, IL

Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, adjust, and periodically program CNC machinery (3, 4, or 5-axis)

• Perform highly diversified machining on complex parts to exact specifications

• Follow all department process instructions and shop safety practices

• Measure and inspect completed parts to ensure conformance and detect defects

• Maintain equipment and coordinate with maintenance for preventative service

• Keep work area neat, orderly, and compliant with safety standards

• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors about job progress and issues

Qualifications:

• 5+ years CNC machining experience (preferably steel machining; 10 years preferred)

• OR 5+ years CNC experience plus 5+ years steel cutting experience

• Proven ability to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and tear down CNC equipment

• Experience with drills, mills, lathes, grinders, and saws

• Tooling knowledge and basic CNC programming skills

• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings

• Strong math skills, including decimals, fractions, and basic trigonometry

• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Must pass a physical evaluation, including respiratory analysis

• Able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods

• Capable of lifting up to 33 lbs regularly

• Use of hands/arms for product handling and equipment operation
