Head of internal accounting

We are looking for a Head of Ceded Tech Accounting based in Chicago. This role is a hybrid role.

The Impact You Will Have

Owns, manages and oversees all reinsurance accounting processes and transactions for AGCS internal cessions for AGCS global segment, in general with internal reinsurers, across all accounting regimes, in particular also with AZ Group/Az Re; ensuring accurate, timely and efficient closings and reportings. I/C reporting and reconciliation. Has over arching responsibility for local NAIC Statutory reporting of reinsurance for annual statement.

Some Of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include

• Plan, coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly and annual closings, related accounting tasks and reporting products (eg., (contributions to) financial reports, regulatory reporting, group/management reporting requirements) including ad-hoc reports/analyses across applicable accounting regimes (IFRS, GAAPs, statutory, Solvency II) in accurate and timely manner
• Complete assigned postings, journal entries and account reconcilitations on a periodic basis
• reconcile and resolve IC transactions with affiliates; coordinate, transfer and reconcile of data from input/frontend systems
• monthly legal entity close submission activities, incl. accruals and manual adjustments
• Own resp. closing/reporting processes and products and parts of/contributions to resp. processes and products
• Drive new topics and towards a comprehensive simplification, standardisaton and harmonisation of processes, (reporting) products and tools following best practice to improve productivity and harvest efficiency gains, in line with NEW AGCS and Global First. Ensure fulfilment of documentation and audit requirements
• Manage relationship with ATT/Finance colleagues and other internal, group and AZ-external stakeholders, including GAR, AZ Re, 3rd party reinsurers and brokers, guided by high customer focus and business acumen; manage interface/relationship with external auditor and other 3rd parties (eg., tax authorities, public authorities)
• Manage local relationship with 3rd parties (auditors, business units, tax authorities, public authorities, etc.)
• Lead and manage (multi-located) team (incl. EWB, if applic.) towards high-performance by providing guidance, setting priorities, defining clear and challenging targets, monitoring progress and addressing performance issues appropriately
• Grow new team in revised ATT setup into one global team across locations. Coach and develop employees by empowering the team and foster mindset shift in line with NEW AGCS and People Attributes
  
  

What You’ll Bring To The Role

• 5-7 years experience in insurance accounting in particular within area of responsibility
• 5-7 years experience in managerial/leadership experience encompassing the development (ideally) of small teams within a complex global / matrix environment
• 3-5 years experience of leading change in various business scenarios, including, e.g., restructuring, integration and mature growth markets
• Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS / IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as Allianz Accounting policies) wrt reporting, compliance and declaration
• Data Quality and Reporting: Ensuring compliance of closing, reporting with internal & external requirements (capital management)
• Bachelor’s degree (ideally Master’s) preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting
• Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is preferred
  
  

The annualized base pay range for this role is $113488 - $176683.  The annual base salary range represents nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
